UNC Hospitals MRI Suite

Chapel Hill, NC Healthcare

Project Overview

A critical renovation within the active UNC Hospitals complex involving the installation of a new high-field MRI suite. The project required precise coordination to upgrade the department without interrupting daily radiological operations.

The Challenge

Constructing a high-field MRI suite within an operational hospital required zero-tolerance vibration mitigation and strict infection control (ICRA Class IV). The presence of the magnet necessitated a complete non-ferrous construction zone.

The Solution

We installed a specialized isolated slab with fiberglass reinforcement to prevent magnetic interference. Radio Frequency (RF) copper shielding was meticulously soldered and tested to 100dB attenuation, ensuring clinical image fidelity immediately upon commissioning.
