The Kress Building
Project Overview
A landmark restoration of the 1930 Art Deco Kress Building. We revitalized this Main Street icon into a vibrant mixed-use facility featuring retail, office space, and a luxury penthouse with a rooftop terrace.
The Challenge
Converting a 1930s retail structure into Class-A mixed-use space required navigating strict State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) guidelines while integrating modern fire-safety and MEP systems into a structure with zero ceiling plenums.
The Solution
We utilized advanced mostly non-destructive investigation techniques to route systems through existing chases. The terra cotta façade was restored ensuring full tax credit compliance, delivering a modern asset that honors its Art Deco legacy.
